Lynne Lorraine Goos (Sharp)
Lynne Lorraine (Sharp) Goos, "Mother Goose", 72 of Gering passed away on Monday Dec. 18, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family and closest friends Rich and Sandie Cummins. Cremation has taken place per Lynne's request and a Celebration of Life will be held on Dec 30, 2017 at 11am at Gering Zion Church with Pastor Tim Hebbert officiating. The family respectfully requests that memorials in Lynne’s honor be made in care of the family to be designated at a later time. Online condolences may be left at www.jolliffefuneralhome.com.

Lynne was born on Oct 17, 1945 in Dalton, Ne to Arthur Daniel and Evelyn Mae (Underhill) Sharp being the youngest to her three older brothers. Lynne grew up in Bridgeport, in the home her great grandfather built, and attended school there graduating in 1963. She was proud of the purple and gold, being a cheerleader from her freshman to senior year, always talking about all the places they traveled to cheer on the Bulldogs. She was voted Homecoming Queen her senior year and loved getting together with classmates every year at their reunions after graduation. She went on to continue her education at Chadron State College becoming a sorority sister of the Chi Omega Beta Zeta's in 1965. While attending college she was voted the Winter Ball Queen her senior year and also met the love of her life, the boy with the pretty blue eyes, Donald Goos. She graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education and art. On Aug 6, 1967 at First Presbyterian Church in Bridgeport Lynne married her love and to this union two daughters were born, Wendy in January of 1974 and Stacy in November of 1975.

She loved to dance, bowl, golf and loved spending time with her grandchildren, Ashley and Austin. Lynne was an amazing artist and could draw or paint anything! She hand drew and painted the letters on the covered wagon that sits on the corner of Main Street during Oregon Trail Days every year. She wanted to see kids enjoy art as much as herself and would teach classes after school for those kids that wanted to learn. She enjoyed teaching and had the privilege to teach in Gering for 40 years, teaching at Central, Haig, Northfield, Lincoln and Geil during her career. Lynne had to retire in 2007 due to an undiagnosed brain disease. In 2015 she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and fought a tough battle unfortunately losing that battle on Dec 18th, 2017.

Lynne is survived by her husband of 50 years, Don; daughters Wendy (Erin Hinze) and Stacy (Brady) Mitchell and grandchildren Ashley and Austin Mitchell, all of Gering; brothers Jack (Youmi) Sharp of Seoul, Korea, D.J (late Rosemary) Sharp of Lincoln and Robert (Ellen) Sharp of Lincoln; sisters-in-law Willa (late Gerry) Morris and Barb Powers both of Las Vegas, NV; nieces and nephews, Jewel (Todd) Ronne, Michelle (Walt) Shotkoski, Denise (Aaron) Tobkin, Stephanie (Darrin) Nielsen, Brian (Malika) Sharp, Vicki Bauer, and Scott (Janice) Morris.

She was preceded in death by her parents, parents in laws Oley and Ruth (Buckroth) Goos, brother-in-law Gerry Morris and sister-in-law Rosemary Sharp.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Prairie Haven Hospice for the care and love they showed Lynne during her final days. You will always hold a special place in our hearts.
