Obituary for Warren William "Wally" Wallace

It is with great sadness that the family of Warren (Wally) Wallace, age 84, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, share his passing on Monday, May 2, 2022. A Memorial Service will be held at 10am on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Bridgman Funeral Home in Scottsbluff with Pastor Steve Schwartzkopf officiating. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in Wally’s honor be made in care of the Scottsbluff/Gering Soup Kitchen. Bridgman Family Funeral Home in Scottsbluff is entrusted with arrangements.
Wally was born July 24, 1937 to William and Emma Wallace in Omaha, Nebraska, where they lived until he was at the age of 9 years old. The family moved to Spokane, WA for a brief time and then settled in Colorado Springs, CO. Wally was raised in the Catholic Church. He received his education at Catholic schools and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Colorado Springs in 1956. After High school, Wally worked in the grocery business and was in the Navy Reserves for 7 years.
It was in Colorado Springs, where Wally met the love of his life, Jodie. Wally and Jodie were married on January 13, 1960 in Colorado Springs, CO. To this union were three children: Willie, Mike and Kim. They lived in Colorado for 16 years before moving to Scottsbluff.
Wally was a very hard worker and enjoyed his work. He worked in the grocery business his entire life and he and his wife were the proud business owner of Express Mart. He was able to enjoy retirement, set a sail on 23 cruises with his beloved wife and enjoy their Grandchildren and one Great Grandchild. He was passionate about Colorado Rockies Baseball and Nebraska Cornhusker football.
Wally was a devoted family man and would do anything for his family or his friends. He will always be remembered as a great storyteller – and leaving his wife at a rest area!
Wally is survived by his three children Willie (Kelly) of Steamboat, CO, Mike (Kay) Gering, NE and Kim (Clay) Bullock of Cheyenne, WY; grandchildren (5) Elizabeth (Cody) Wooldridge of Pine Bluffs, WY, Teague Wallace of Seattle, WA, Taylor Wallace of Washington DC, Morgan Wallace of Lincoln, NE and Carson Wallace of Gering, NE; 1 great-grandchild Riggin Wooldridge; sister Mary K Tuggle of Colorado Springs, CO; Maxine Cowie of Colorado Springs, CO sister-in-law Vivian Damratowski of Loup City, NE; and many beloved nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Joanna Wallace, parents, William and Emma Wallace.
