Obituary for Rose Kizzire (Buhr)

Rose Kizzire, 59, of Scottsbluff passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021, at University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, CO.

Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, Nov. 12, 2021, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 501 Winter Creek Dr in Scottsbluff with Bishop John Blomstedt officiating.

Memorials may be made in Rose’s name and will be designated at a later time.

Rose was born Dec. 18, 1961, to Harold and Socorro (Lopez) Buhr in Scottsbluff. She grew up in the Valley, attending school in Minatare. She received her GED at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and studied nursing courses for two years after.

Rose was united in marriage to Doss Kizzire on March 15, 2003, in Scottsbluff.

In 1982, Rose suffered injuries from a tornado in Oklahoma. Rose held several jobs in nursing and home health. She also worked for K-Mart and Walmart and then as a Dispatcher for Scotts Bluff County until her disability forced her retirement. She later became a receptionist for the Child Development Center in the last few years.

Rose has a passion for playing Poker and was nicknamed “Poker Rose”. She loved to travel, camp and fish. Her greatest joy was her family and grandchildren.

Rose was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Scottsbluff.

She is survived by her husband, Doss of Scottsbluff; children, David (Jennifer) Dunagan of Gove, KS, Melissa Coats of Scottsbluff, Amber Kizzire of Gering, Dustin (Samantha) Kizzire of Osmond, NE; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ernie, Henry, Bob and Dave Buhr and their families; and a special Uncle Kenny Buhr.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Socorro Buhr and her in-laws, Harold Sr. and Eileen Kizzire; and a nephew, Jesse Buhr.
