Rose Schlegel Webber, 100, of Gering, passed away on Nov 7, 2021, at Heritage Estates in Gering. Her private family graveside services will be held on Monday, Nov 15, 2021, at East Lawn Cemetery in Minatare with Pastor Jeff Feit officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, Nov 14 at Bridgman Funeral Home from 3:30pm – 5:30pm. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in Rose’s honor be made in care of the First Presbyterian Church in Scottsbluff. Rose was born on Oct 6, 1921, in Bayard, NE to George and Katherine (Zitterkoph) Schlegel. She graduated from Bayard High School in 1940. Rose married Emmanuel H. Webber in 1945. The couple had a farm south of Minatare. Rose was employed by Nebraska Public Power District and Kansas Nebraska Energy, Inc for 21 years, before retiring in 1982. She moved to Scottsbluff in 1990 after selling the family farm.
Rose enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She loved to read and travel. Rose was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a lifetime member of the Dewey Post 1681 Ladies Auxiliary.
Rose is survived by her granddaughter Shannon (Lee) Floth and great-grandson Ryan of Scottsbluff; sons-in-law Brad Beutler of Minatare and Richard Kaufman of Scottsbluff; granddaughter Krisa Kaufman of Mitchell; great-granddaughters Jayla (Samuel) Care of Scottsbluff, and Kayellen (Kyle) Haug of Gering and great-great granddaughter Scarlett; special nieces Sueann (Dirk) Gossnel of Pavilion, WY, Peggy (Gene) Reynolds of Fort Lupton, CO; and many other nieces and nephews.
Rose’s parents, husband Emmanuel, daughters Barbara “Bobi” Beutler and Jolene Kaufman, brother John, sisters Emma (infant), Katherine McMillen, Minnie Schlegel and Esther Simpson all preceded her in death.
