Richard was born on November 5th, 1941 to Russell & Hilda (Gotschall) Alfred. He grew up in Scottsbluff, grew up with 7 brother and 1 sister, and graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1959. After graduation, he served in the United States Marine Corps. He met and fell in love with Patricia Austin and were married in 1961. From this loving union came Sandra and Steven.
In his early years, Richard loved working on cars and racing stock cars. He worked at Magnolia Homes as a plumbing installer and general construction worker. He took his love of automobiles to K-Mart and worked as the service manager in the auto service department until that department was phased out. He took his plumbing knowledge with him and worked at Home Depot in the Plumbing Department and retired in 2012.
In his retired years, he loved to work in his yard, growing flowers and mowing, and he really enjoyed spending time with all his grand-children. He cared for Patricia through her extended battle with cancer. He had a very extended list of friends, and seemed to know everyone, and was loved by all.
Richard is survived by his brothers Arvid, Mike, David, Ralph; sister Helen; daughter Sandra (Marlin) Duncan; son Steven (Linda) Alfred; grandchildren Kendele (Cory) Voigt, Kayla (Robert) Carrizales and Stephanie Alfred, and Shelby Duncan; great-grandchildren Aspyn, Haylee, Caiden, Madison, Emmerson & Jackson.
Richard was preceded in death by his loving wife Patricia Alfred, his parents Russell and Hilda Alfred and brothers Duane Alfred, John Alfred and Steven Alfred.
