Paula D. Martin, 90, formerly of Bridgeport, passed away on Sunday, Sept 4, 2022, at Emerald Court in Scottsbluff. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Friday, Sept 9, 2022, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bridgeport with Rev. Allen Strawn officiating. Interment will follow at Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery in Bridgeport. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept 8, from 4-7 pm at Bridgman Funeral Home in Bridgeport. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in Paula’s honor be in care of Morrill County Hospital Foundation, or to the church. Paula was born February 6, 1932, in Omaha, NE to Paul and Golda (Zimmerman) Hair. They lived in Syracuse, NE until 1938 when the family moved to Bridgeport. After graduating from Bridgeport High School in 1950, she attended Colorado A & M in Fort Collins, CO. On November 30, 1952, she married Ruben Martin. They lived and farmed north of Bridgeport. Her main vocation was being a wife and mother, but she also taught school at Northport early in her marriage. Beginning in the late 1970’s she became the office manager at the new Morrill County Clinic for several years. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bridgeport. She loved entertaining family and friends. She and Ruben enjoyed traveling throughout their 57-year marriage.
She is survived by daughter Jan (Ken) Austin of Bayard; grandchildren Daniel of Bayard, and Maria (Anthony) Watson of Linden, UT; sister in-laws Helen Bauer of Scottsbluff, Jeanette (George) Hall of Bridgeport, Gay (Doug) Afdahl of Annapolis, MD, and Debbie Martin of Omaha, NE; brother in-law David (Peggy) Martin of Platte, SD, and special cousin Pinkie Jo Butler of Torrington, WY; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Her parents and husband preceded her in death.
