Obituary for John William "Bill" McKay

John “Bill” William McKay, 80, of Scottsbluff, passed away Monday, February 3, 2020 at Emerald Court. His memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bridgeport with Reverend Allen Strawn officiating. Interment will follow at Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery in Bridgeport. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in Bill’s honor be made in care of the family to be designated at a later time. John William McKay was born to Edmond and Lucille McKay, December 5, 1939 in Bridgeport where he graduated in 1957.

Bill was born and raised in Bridgeport and he was always seen out in the community visiting with people. He was a long-time member of the Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department, the FOE 2813 Eagles Club and a member of St. Pauls’ Lutheran Church.

In 2002 Bill retired from Panhandle Coop and continuing doing his favorite things – playing golf, riding his bike and playing cards. He was an avid Husker and Denver Broncos fan.

Bill is survived by his children Russell (Denise) McKay of Gretna, NE, Roberta (Brad) Mueller of Bridgeport, NE, Ryan (Linda) McKay of Lincoln, NE., brother Joe (Louise) McKay of Kalispell, MT, grandchildren Wesly McKay of Lincoln, NE., Nicole (TJ) Miller of Storm Lake, IA, Jamie (Nathan) Horalek of Tacoma, WA, Taylor Mueller of Broadwater, NE., Kelsey McKay of Omaha, NE., Kimberly Mueller and fiancé Brandon White of Gering, NE., great grandchildren David McKay of Virginia, NE., Derek McKay of Lincoln, NE., and Cassidy Miller of Storm Lake, IA and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and great grandson Aiden Quentin Jacob White.
