Obituary for Janet Freda Franke

Janet F. Franke, 98 Passed away Thursday evening May 18, 2023, at her home. At her request, cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held. Bridgman Family Funeral Home and Cremation service is entrusted with the arrangements.
Janet was born February 2, 1925, in the Dalles, Oregon, to Albert and Edythe (Harvey) Foord. She moved to Portland, Oregon at age 6 where she received her education. In Oregon Janet worked for Montgomery Wards, and the Air Force Post Office in Portland from 1942 to 1943, where she met husband Chester Franke. They were united in marriage on December 7, 1945, in Vancouver, Washington. The couple started a family and moved to Fontenelle, Nebraska in 1946, and later to Fremont in 1947. They farmed there until 1959. Chester and Janet moved to Scottsbluff, Nebraska in 1961 with their 4 children, where they have resided since.
In Scottsbluff Janet worked as a hostess for Big John's BBQ Pit and at Alexander’s supermarket as a deli manager before starting her own business from Home, where she ran a daycare and her candy business. She was also a campfire leader; she Loved children and spent her life caring for and teaching them. She was very crafty and was always making things. She loved feeding the squirrels and the birds and spent countless hours watching them.
Janet was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her daughters Janet Marie Beebe of Morrill Ne, Gwen E. Franke; son-in-law Bill Allbaugh of Rapid City SD; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents. husband Chester in 2007, sons Chester E. Franke, Daniel G. Franke, and Michael L. Franke; brothers Daniel G. Foord, Albert (Manny) Foord. sisters, Margaret Reed, Ona Spikerman, and June Cornutt; son-in-law Michael J. Beebe; grandson Timothy J. Garner and wife Jamie and her beloved dogs Spook and Cassie.
She was an amazing mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind.
