Obituary for Jane Carey (Nuss)
Jane Carey, 81, of Minatare, passed away, Sunday, August 18, 2019, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. A memorial graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 26, 2019, at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering with Chaplain Jeff Jay officiating. In lieu of flowers, Jane wished any donations be given to the Panhandle Humane Society.
Jane was born December 9, 1937, at Bayard, Nebraska to Alex and Dorothy (Kraus) Nuss. She graduated from the Bayard High School in 1956. She then moved to Joliet, Illinois where she was employed for many years as a legal secretary and court reporter in the Chicago area. There she met and married her husband, Raymond Carey Sr., they had one child, Raymond Jr. Jane along with her family relocated back to Minatare in 1985.
Survivors include her son, Raymond Carey Jr.; two stepchildren, Ralph Carey and Joyce (Tom) Moss; one grandson, Nicolai A. Carey; one granddaughter, Tatiana King; brothers, Robert (Mary Ann) Nuss, and Richard Nuss; sister, Tonya (Randy) Baum; and nephews, nieces, and many step-grandchildren; and her little black chihuahua named “Happy,” her longtime companion.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; stepson, Jimmy Carey; stepdaughter, Diane (Jeff) Hartman; a very special sister-in-law, Genny (Richard) Nuss; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
