Obituary

James D. Uhrich, 63, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2021, in his home.
Graveside services will be 12:00 noon, Friday, April 9, 2021 at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff with Rick Reisig officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Bridgman Funeral Home.
Online condolences may be left at www.bridgmanfuneralhome.com.
James “Jim” Uhrich was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to parents Fred and Mildred Uhrich on October 29, 1957. His parents and three three siblings left Nebraska in 1967 and went to Denver, Colorado to begin a new life. The Uhrich family worked hard and enjoyed many fun and special times.
Growing up, Jim was very active in the school band playing the trombone and was honored to have played with the Englewood High School Marching Band. Jim marched with the Englewood band at Denver Broncos games, and the band competed at the Tournament of Rose Parade in California, where they brought home the First-Place trophy.
Jim, along with his Dad, also developed a love for cars. Jim worked on cars, raced cars, collected cars, and was especially fond of his 1967 Corvette. Jim was also the proud owner of his own business, MailBoxes Plus, and took lots of pride in his beautiful home in Aurora, Colorado.
On September 2, 1994, Jim’s life would change forever when Austin James Greene was born. At birth, Austin was his grandson, but in 2007 Jim legally adopted Austin as his son. Jim and Austin were inseparable and enjoyed many fun and joyous times. From coaching him in football to watching him on the day he graduated high school, Jim was a very proud father.
The next big blessing in Jim’s life came when Jim became a grandfather, or “Papa”, to his granddaughter Camila, “Mila,” born on April 5, 2017. The family all met Mila at Jim’s surprise 60th birthday party in October of 2017 where friends and family gathered, and boy was Jim surprised. Jim whispered to his sister that “if I knew about this, I wouldn’t have worn sweatpants and my Nebraska Cornhusker t-shirt” (of which he wore often). Mila was the apple of Jim’s eye and would often say, “that little girl has sure stolen my heart” and she did.
On November 23, 2019, Jim became a grandfather for the second time when NoaReign was born to Austin and Daizha. With both a grandson and granddaughter, Jim was over the moon with happiness.
Jim had a huge passion for life as was shown by the many hobbies he took up later in life. From playing his guitar to star gazing with his HUGE telescopes, Jim showed his love for life. Reading (Grisham books were his favorites) and photography were also passions. Jim truly loved family get-togethers which included numerous BBQ’s, holiday celebrations, football parties, and vacations to California. Jim was always there with a huge smile on his face, talking to everyone, cracking jokes and making us all laugh. Jim had an enormous heart of gold and was always there to help anyone who asked or even if they didn’t.
Jim is survived by his siblings, Cindy Hudak with husband Bob Hudak, Bob Uhrich with wife Chie Uhrich and Laurie Ward with fiance’ Rich Dooley: son, Austin Uhrich with fiance’ Daizha Ebner, granddaughter Mila and grandson NoaReign; nieces, Sarah Ward and Brianna Uhrich and dozens of cherished cousins.
Jim, you were taken too soon. You will be in our hearts forever and never forgotten.

Jim was my "Arby's buddy" as I worked right up the ramp from his store. We always had delightful and sometimes intense conversations. My heart goes out to all of his friends and family. I am so sorry for your tragic loss. Sincere sympathies,
Kayla Berg
