Obituary for James Lee "Jim" Ozenberger

James Lee “Jim” Ozenberger 69, of Gering, NE, died February 20, 2023 at home peacefully in his sleep. Jim was born in Sioux City, IA on December, 28,1954, the son of William C. and Ann C. Ozenberger.
He graduated from Gering High School class of 1972, then attended Kearney State College.
For a short time he lived in Guymon, OK and worked at Swift and Company with his brother and father. He moved back to Gering and became a Welder by trade and worked for Lockwood and the Railroad. He moved to California for a brief time to be a Pipe Fitter then returned to Gering to reside permanently. Before he retired he worked for the City of Gering Parks Department.
Jim was very athletic in his youth and participated in Football, Baseball and Swimming. He enjoyed music and had an extensive album collection with his favorite bands being The Cars and Van Morrison. He mostly enjoyed watching sporting events and reading. Being a beloved son and brother, he took care of his mother for five years before she passed.
Jim is survived by his brother Bill Ozenberger of Carrollton, TX: sister and brother-in-law Nancy Ozenberger Covalt and Donald Covalt of Cheyenne, WY; sister and brother-in-law Barbara Ozenberger Lowell and Michael Lowell of Carrollton, TX; niece Sarah Covalt of Cheyenne, WY; niece and nephew-in-law Julie Covalt Tyler and Rusty Tyler of Cheyenne, WY; and nephew and niece-in-law Eric Covalt and Jenna Savage of Firestone, CO.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
