Irma was born to Jose and Francisca Campos on December 20, 1965 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She was raised in Mitchell with her siblings until the Campos family moved to Lompoc, California, in 1977. She continued her education and graduated from Lompoc High School in 1988. Irma, who lived with Down Syndrome, was active with LOVARC, enjoyed her outings and even held a job for a short period of time. She returned to Mitchell, Nebraska, with her family in 1999.
Irma enjoyed spending time with her parents, nieces and nephews. She collected magazines, wrote in her notebooks, “played school”, watched TV, and really enjoyed listening to music. Her favorite musician was Michael Jackson, but she enjoyed all music, often dancing and singing to entertain herself for hours. She told her nieces and nephews to “go home” and “you on diet” - so they would not eat her snacks - so often that they became her calling card and are repeated affectionately by her nieces and nephews in California and Nebraska. Irma, who had a kind and gentle spirit, touched so many lives with her warm and beautiful smile that reached her beautiful brown eyes. Irma shared her loving and caring nature with each and every member of her family, and she will never be forgotten.
Irma is survived by her seven siblings - Louis O. Campos (Margie) of Scottsbluff, Gilbert O. Campos of MItchell, Samuel O. Campos (Cindy) of Scottsbluff, Abel O. Campos of California, Isabel C. Guerra (Ernest) of Lompoc, California, Jesse O. Campos (Deanna) of Morrill and Frances B. Campos of Gering.
She is preceded in death by her father, Jose; her mother, Francisca; three sisters, two brothers and her grandparents.
