Obituary for Harlan D Kurtz

Harlan D Kurtz, 80, of Morrill, NE passed away peacefully on November 26th, 2022, at Regional West Medical Center. His memorial service will be held at 2pm on Friday, December 2, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Morrill with Rev Kenneth Humphrey officiating. Inurnment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Morrill. The family respectfully request that in lieu of flowers, memorials in Harlan’s honor be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Morrill Fire and Rescue. Harlan was born on June 16th, 1942, in Scottsbluff, NE to Walter and Elizabeth Kurtz. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1960 and attended Chadron State College. On September 16th, 1962, he married Joanne Purviance. They have two daughters, Sheila and Lisa. For 29 years, he farmed North of Mitchell then moved to Morrill in 1988. He worked at the communications center as a 911 dispatcher and retired in 2006. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Morrill serving in various positions. He was also a member of the Morrill Volunteer Fire Department.
Harlan is survived by his wife Joanne; daughters Sheila (Leo) Jayne of Morrill and Lisa (Curtis) Oliver of Highlands Ranch, CO; grandson Kenton (Nikki) Ewing; granddaughter Lynsie (Thomas) Guething; great-grandchildren Paisley and Jackson Ewing and Obi Guething; sisters-in-law Virginia (Reo) Radford, Laverne Peters, Dorothy Purviance, Emma Purviance; and brother-in-law Larry (Jean) Purviance.
Harlan was proceeded in death by his parents Walter and Elizabeth Kurtz and his in-laws Marquis and Elda Purviance, seven brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
