Gary was born September 17, 1946 in Imperial, NE to parents John B. Edwards and Nola Soule. He graduated from Wauneta High School in 1964. After meeting the love of his life during high school, he and Peg Johnson married on June 11, 1965. To this union, three children were born: Julie, Joanne, and John. He worked a handful of jobs, including the McCook Gazette, before finding his place with the Sears Company. Gary spent 25 years as an Electronics Technician. Once that chapter of his life closed, he began his next career as an electrician for the Union Pacific Railroad for 17 years until his retirement. Gary, Peg, and their dog Freckles moved to Scottsbluff, NE to be closer to family and build lasting memories with their daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandson.
Gary was a man of few words but was never afraid to speak up for himself and his loved ones. He had a passion for math and there never was a problem or issue he wasn’t willing to tackle. Nothing brought him more joy than taking things apart and being able to put them back together again. Gary loved nothing more than to simply spend time with family and make the most of every day.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Joanne, and his son John.
Gary is survived by his wife of 55 years, Peg Edwards, his daughter Julie Miller (Marvin), his three grandchildren Keeley Ruff (Austin), Fiona (Andrew Tran), Corwin, his great-grandson Mason Ruff, and his siblings Linda and Bill Edwards.
