Francisca was born to Fermin Hernandez and Eduvijes Ortega on October 4, 1928, in Clint, Texas, the first of five children. She helped raise her siblings, and later met Jose Campos, the man she would marry on February 12,1946, in La Mesa, Texas. The couple traveled extensively due to work, started their family in the Haig, Nebraska, area in 1956, and moved to Mitchell in 1959. The Campos family moved to Lompoc, California, in 1977, and returned to Mitchell in 1999.
Francisca enjoyed tending for her garden, reading, sewing, watching her favorite novellas, and making her family-favorite tortillas and tamales. More than anything, she loved doting on her children and many grandchildren, and caring full-time for her daughter Irma, who was born with Down's Syndrome.
Francisca is survived by eight of her children - Luis O. Campos (Margie) of Scottsbluff, Gilbert O. Campos of Mitchell, Sam O. Campos (Cindy) of Gering, Abel O. Campos of California, Isabel C. Guerra (Ernest) of Lompoc, California, Jesse O. Campos (Deanna) of Morrill, Irma M. Campos of Mitchell, and Frances B. Campos of Gering, 26 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, three sisters - Maria Faria, Anita Rodriguez and Alicia Najera all of California, and a brother, Miguel Ortega of California.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jose, three daughters, two sons, her parents, a brother and a sister
