Obituary for Eileen Mae Criner (Doebele)

Eileen Mae Criner, 78, of Scottsbluff, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Her memorial service will be held at 10am on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Bridgman Funeral Home in Scottsbluff with Pastor Rick Reisig officiating. Eileen Mae Criner (Manley) who was born on April 22nd, 1943 in Steele City, Nebraska returned to the eternal peace of God’s loving embrace on Sunday, November 28th 2021.
Eileen was raised in Steele City with her brothers Larry and Valjean by their loving parents Loyal and Mary Manley. As a child in that small midwestern town, Eileen played softball, spent time with friends, tormented her brothers, and worked for a local doctor. Eileen married Delbert Criner on December 6th, 1980.
Eileen and Delbert established D&E Plumbing in Scottsbluff, NE in 1983. Eileen managed the business while Delbert plumbed. The two of them were fixtures at the Elks club every Friday and Saturday night for many years. Eileen was a respected member of the Scottsbluff business community and friends to so many there.
Eileen was an avid sports fan. In addition to cheering for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, she was also a Los Angeles Lakers fan. She loved to bowl and played in several leagues over the years.
Eileen loved gathering her large extended family for celebrations. She loved to sit on the front porch and watch her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play and set off fireworks on the fourth of July. She always seemed to have a camera nearby and took many pictures.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, her infant sister Joyce Ann Manley, brother Valjean Manley, her daughter Michelle Horinek and son Matthew Arntt.
She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years Delbert Criner of Scottsbluff Nebraska; her daughter Marilee (Craig) Chaplin of Piffard New York; her son-in-law Troy Horinek of Troupe, Texas; her brother Larry (Rhonda) Manley of Washington, Kansas; grandchildren Jessica Heitz, Jennifer Cargil, Dylan Horinek, Logan (Mary) Henson, Anthony (Lyanna) Chaplin, Eric (Jocelyn) Chaplin, Alyssa Chaplin, Evan Chaplin; and great grandchildren Nate and Mackenzie Picket Pin, Austin and Jacob Reeve, Abigail and Addison Cargil, Raelyn and Hayden Henson; as well as nephews Shane Manley and family, Colby (Lisa) Manley and family; and niece Schanah (Troy) Miller and family.
