Obituary for Dorothy Eileen Landercasper (Kostbahn)

Dorothy Eileen Kostbahn Landercasper, 100, of Lincoln, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, June 6, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff with Rev Jeffrey Grams officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service time at the church. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in Dorothy’s honor be made in care of the church. Dorothy was born November 22, 1921, in Eustis, NE. as an identical twin. The babies were so small less than 4 lbs. and the doctor told their parents to make them comfortable as he did not expect them to live. There first bed was a common dresser drawer. They were Baptized January 17,1922 and confirmed April 14, 1935.
The family moved to Lexington, NE in 1943. She taught four years in rural schools. During WWII she helped serve soldiers at the canteen in North Platte, NE on their way to war. Dorothy married Gilbert Landercasper on October 23, 1949, in Lexington, NE. After the children were in high school, she worked nineteen years at Reach Electronics in Lexington, NE.
Dorothy and Gil moved to Gering, NE in 1992. Gil passed away in 1998 and in 2013 Dorothy moved to Lincoln be closer to her daughters Cheryl, Marla and her twin Doris.
She was blessed with three children, daughter Marla and husband Fred Rist of Papillion, NE; daughter Cheryl and husband Roy Kizzier of Lincoln, NE; and son Lane and wife Betty of Scottsbluff, NE. She had a twin sister Doris and husband Gil Brauer of Lincoln, NE; brother Karl Kostbahn and wife Phylis of Grand Island, NE.
Dorothy and Gilbert were blessed with nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, several step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dorothy’s love of family and friends was only surpassed by her love for her lord and savior Jesus Christ! Throughout her life until she was unable to get to church on her own without help, she never missed a service. She spent countless years in her younger life teaching Sunday School and loved singing in the choir. She was part of the lady’s association and volunteered a lot of time to the church. Her family was blessed to celebrate her 100th birthday last November 21st.
She is preceded in death by her husband Gilbert Landercasper, parents Minnie and Carl Kostbahn, grandson Philip Landercasper, twin sister Doris Brauer and husband Gil Brauer, and step grandson Ryan Kizzier.
