Deloris was born January 6, 1937, to Earl and Francis Joy in Torrington, WY. She received her education at Lyman Public Schools. After graduation she worked as a telephone operator in Henry, NE where she met and later married the love of her life, Harold Schillereff. They spent most of their lives in Morrill, then spent the last eight years at the Western Nebraska Veteran’s Home.
Harold and Deloris spent almost 66 years of their lives together. They were married on June 14, 1957. Together they raised six children. Harold always loved Deloris’ beautiful smile and was devoted to her. Their family appreciates all of the love they created and shared together.
Deloris had many careers over the years, but working as a Care Staff Member at Mitchell Nursing Home was one of the most rewarding. She had many, many hobbies. She was fond of crafty type activities such as crocheting, quilting, sewing, cooking, and curling her girls’ hair. She was also somewhat of a sportsman as she enjoyed fishing and camping, and she could usually be found “pressing her luck” at a slot machine in a casino somewhere or at a table with Bingo Cards sprawled out and dobber in hand!
Deloris is survived by her husband Harold of Scottsbluff; daughters Laura of Scottsbluff, Donna (Joe) Dinges of Torrington, WY, Pam (Sterling) Shinn of Ville Platte, LA, Tami (Rod) Brocke of Bay City, MI, and her son Harold Schillereff, Jr. of Morrill; 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren; siblings, David Joy of Mitchell, NE and Edna (Paul) Curry of Morrill, NE and several other nieces, nephews, family and friends who loved her dearly.
Preceding her in death were her daughter Angie, infant grandson Harley, Son-in-Law David Halstead; Parents Earl and Francis Joy, Brothers; Donald, Jack, Dale, Ray, Edwin and Wesley and several other family members and friends.
She was deeply loved and will be missed by her family. A special thank you to her granddaughter Danielle Self.
In loving memory, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister.
