Obituary for Clayton "Clyde" Mount

Clyde Mount Age 78 of Gering, Nebraska Passed away Thursday April 22, 2021 at The Western Nebraska Veterans Home. Per Clyde’s wishes cremation has taken place. There will Celebration of Life on Friday June 11th 2021 from 3:30pm to 5:30pm at the Robidoux RV Park Community Room 585 Five Rocks Rd Gering NE.

Clyde was born March 22, 1943 at Broadwater, Nebraska to Daniel and Susan E. Mount. He attended District #41 for his early education, graduating from Banner County High School in 1962. After High School he joined the National Guard, later enlisting into the Navy Seabees where he served the Vietnam War from July 1968 to June 1969. He was honorably discharged in July of 1970. He married Charlotte McCleery in Alice, Texas in 1970 and again in 1982. Clyde had many different talents including running heavy equipment to driving truck and farming. After Clyde got out of the service, he spent most of his time working construction in Texas, Colorado and Wyoming. After 1982 he came back to Western Nebraska and Eastern Wyoming where he worked several different trucking and farming jobs. In 1991 he went to work driving for Kilthau Transports and retired from driving truck in 2005. He then went to work for Stricker Farms south of Gering until the end of 2013 when he fully retired.

Clyde is survived by his brother Everett Mount of Gering, his sister Maxine Mathews of Gering and several nieces and nephews.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, sister Judy Garton, Brother-in-Law Alvin Garton and Brother-in-Law Morris Mathews.
