Obituary for Carole Louise Mix (Peters)
Carole L. Mix passed away February 4, 2022, at her home in Gering, Nebraska. Her memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, February 11, 2022, at Bridgman Funeral Home in Scottsbluff with Pastor Seth Leypoldt officiating. Services will be livestreamed on Bridgman Funeral Home Facebook Page. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in Carole’s honor be made in care of her family to be designated at a later time. She was born Oct 5,1937 in Wray, Colorado to Walter R. Peters and Vylena Daisy (Starkey) Peters. She grew up in Broadwater Nebraska. In 1953 She married Jim Powers and had 2 daughters, Allene Dowling and Vylena Prochazka. On Sept 15, 1973, she married Francis Mix and gained two step children to her family, Mary Bently and Mike Mix.
Carole liked to do accounting and worked as a bookkeeper. She and Francis also had their own business in Alliance. She also enjoyed working at the Scottsbluff Zoo.
Carole loved to travel and got to visit several different countries and do exciting things like hang gliding and zip lining. She liked to read, make cross stitch gifts, and work puzzles. She loved going to her grandkids events and would have been at all of them if she could. Her family was most important to her and she especially enjoyed the time she spent together with them.
She is survived by her husband Francis Mix.; children Allene (Paul) Dowling, Vylena (Rod) Prochazka. Mary Bentley and Myron Mix; grandchildren Mike (Erica) Dowling, Stacy Seay, Kristin Dowling, Mandy (Lance) Yearling, Justin (Sarah) Dietrich, Brittany Dietrich, Lacy Prochazka, Colette (Nick) Topfer, Darren (Maggie) Bentley; 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
