Obituary for Barbara Jean Flick (Cox)
Barbara Jean Flick, 80, of Mitchell, died Thursday, Nov 24, 2022, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Her funeral service will be held at 10am on Friday, Dec 2, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Craig Collins officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in Barbara’s honor be made in care of the Tehama Shrine Temple in Hastings, NE. She was born in Sidney, NE to Oren Ora Cox and Earline Pearl Bennett. She attended school and graduated from Sidney High School in 1960, and later the Western Nebraska General Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.
Barb’s love was authenticated by her 40 years of caring for others as a registered nurse. Most of her career occurred at Western Nebraska, General Hospital, and, now known as Regional West Medical Center. She offered her care as a nurse, and also educated many as a nursing instructor.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin (celebrating 60 years of marriage this upcoming May); children Todd and Suzette Flick of West Point, NE, Terry and Laura Flick of O’Neill, NE, Troy and Toi Flick of Belle Fourche, SD, Tim and Roxie Flick of Scottsbluff, NE, and Shawn and Trinity Fuss of Mitchell, NE; sister Patricia Printz of Rapid City, SD; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Her parents, her brother (Larry Cox), and 2 nephews preceded her in death.
