Obituary for Arlene M. Valetski (Valetski)

Arlene M. Valetski, 85, of Scottsbluff, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct 16, 2022, at The Residency Care Center in Scottsbluff. Her funeral service will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, Oct 19, 2022, at Bridgman Family Funeral Home in Scottsbluff with Reverend George Naylor officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in Arlene’s honor be made in care of St. James Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff. Arlene was born in Scotts Bluff County on October 28, 1936, to Alex and Martha (Heilbrun) Valetski. She grew up on a farm southeast of Gering and later in the Sunflower Community near Mitchell, graduating from Sunflower High School in 1955. After school she began working as a switchboard telephone operator for United Telephone Co. in Scottsbluff. She worked through many positions and later retired from the telephone company. Over the years she worked as an executive secretary at Scottsbluff National Bank, and as a legal secretary for attorney James Hancock in Scottsbluff. Her later position was an office employee for Herberger’s Dept. Store. She then cared for her mother when she needed assistance at home. Her spare time job was cleaning various professional offices in the Scottsbluff area over the years.
Arlene is survived by her brother Dr. Eldon (Patty) Valetski of Gering; nieces Cherly Kaman, Laura (Joe) Campbell and Lisa (Jim) Kulovany.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Howard Larry Valetski.
